My First Quilting Project

This was my first attempt at quilting. Unfortunately I didn't date this project, but I think I did this project back in 2004. I thought it came out great, and I felt so good about accomplishing this project that I decided I was now officially "a Quilter!" I have to say that there were many bumps along the way with this project. I remember having a VERY hard time putting the stars together. I had to call my mother-in-law for help. LOL I still have lots of questions and a long way to go, but this project helped me learn the basics.

(sorry for the ugly wallpaper, we haven't redone that room yet)

Pillowcase Poster

As a Relief Society we're going to be participating in Bernina's Million Pillowcase Challenge. We will be making pillowcases and donating them to charity. This is the poster I made to encourage participation. I had some help from a friend to make the letters. (Thanks Lillian!) I think it came out pretty awesome if I do say so myself! (And yes, I did sew a mini-pillowcase just for the poster)

Second Seminary Bulletin Board

The next year we studied the Book of Mormon, so we decided to make a visual of Lehi's Dream. This is how the bulletin board came out. The little people on the path have the kids faces on them. :)

First Seminary Bulletin Board

This was my first bulletin board for seminary. Lots of fun to make!

A Quilter's Garden

I worked on this one for almost 2 years (finished March 18th, 2010), though probably about a year of that time it was packed because of our move. I made this quilt for our living room. Machine pieced and hand quilted.

Dave and Rachel's Wedding Quilt

Very proud of this quilt! This was my first big project (I'll post a smaller one that I did before I tackled this one later). It was a wedding gift for Dave and Rachel, and I embroidered special dates on the correlating month with my Mother-in-law's sewing machine. Here are close-ups of the blocks....

Pantry/Laundry Curtain

I made this curtain to block the pantry door in this apt. I also made a matching valance for the kitchen window. In our new house, the curtain is being used for the laundry door (which is in the kitchen), and the valance is not being used. It's a grape pattern, and I might change it soon.
